Joaquín Soto
Systems Architect · Former redIQ CTO · Now in Ecuador
You may remember me from Everyday Health (VP Engineering), redIQ (Co‑Founder & CTO), or Berkadia (Principal Engineer & Chief Architect). I've been off the radar since early 2022 — this is a brief update on where I am and what I'm building.
📍 What happened
During the pandemic I made personal choices that didn't align with the mainstream in New York. The professional and personal fallout was significant. I lost my apartment, my car, and spent time in a California jail on a charge that was dismissed. By late 2023 I was in Ecuador, starting over.
I'm sharing this because if you heard rumors or wondered where I went, now you know. I'm okay. And I never stopped building.
🛠️ What I've been building
Since landing in Ecuador I've built a collection of practical web tools — all vanilla HTML/CSS/JS, offline‑capable, designed to help creators and small businesses monetize without depending on platforms. They're not startups; they're working utilities. Key pieces:
Everything is connected to an API backend (Infynexus) via a sealed contract — if the server goes down, tools fall back to local mock data and keep working. I built them that way on purpose.

What I'm looking for
I'm not asking for a job — though I'm open to the right opportunity. I'm asking for conversation. I've been isolated too long, and I know the best work happens with other smart people in the room.
If anything here connects to what you're building — especially in AI infrastructure, cloud platforms, creator economy tools, or real estate technology — I'd love to hear from you. Even a short reply means a lot.
More about my current work: Eden in Puembo (living laboratory) · Campo VIVO (regenerative network) · Tiolando (cultural preservation)
Thanks for reading this far. I'm still the same builder — just operating from a different latitude.
